Solar calendar

Museo della Civiltà Contadina del

Friuli Imperiale (Sundials courtyard)

Photo n° 4

The solar calendar is made up of 19 lines which subdivide the solar year (365,2422 days) in 18 parts, about one every 10 days. The day during which the reading is carried out matches the point on the quadrant hit by the luminous spot created by the sun-shaped disc.
