The image is dominated by the figure of a cupid (suspended in a clear sky, painted using the “tromp l’oeil” effect) busy playing his flute. The notes are of a Furlan popular song dedicated to the sun.

The sun depicted on this sundial is characterised by the wink painted by the author, making it thus more entertaining, with the greeting of good tidings to everyone who looks at the sundial.
