The wall, heavily leaning west, forced the creation of a “time zone hours” quadrant. The correction of the time zone in respect to the solar time, equals 6 minutes and 40 seconds for the town of Joannis.

Two lemniscates (figure of eight curves) were painted on the first hours of the afternoon (2.00pm and 3.00pm), in order to allow for the correction called “Time Equation”, which varies during the year according to the orbit of the Earth around the Sun.

The time is indicated by the light spot at the centre of the shadow of the disc.
